What happens on the holiday?
This year our theme will be “Times of Change”. We will be exploring how we carry ourselves through times of change.
Junior holiday will explore this theme through, crafts, games, walks, discussions, shared meals and quiet times.
Barmoor is a large house on the moor, of Quaker foundation. Sleeping accommodation is by dorm (between 3 and 6 a piece)
If have any questions about any potential activities or concerns about your child’s participation in them please contact juniorholidays@quakersinyorkshire.org.uk or make a note on the form in the “anything else” section.
Who’s running the holidays? The gatherings are planned by the Junior Holidays planning group, who are part of, report to and are underwritten by Quakers in Yorkshire. Junior Holiday: Barmoor (inters) 25 is run by 6 volunteers and the Youth Development worker for Yorkshire. The designated parent liaison is Jo Baynham the YDW who can be contacted through the Junior Holiday email address above.
What about the costs? The cost of the weekend is £75 per child. However we would be disappointed indeed if any parent felt they couldn’t send their young people for financial reasons – let us know on the form if you need financial help or email Jo at juniorholidays@quakersinyorkshire.org.uk. Discretion is and confidentially is assured as far as reasonable possible.
Voluntary Donations are invited to help meet the full costs of the holidays which continue to be subsidised by Quakers in Yorkshire. We will assume that any BAC overpayments are voluntary donations unless you let jackie@virtuosity-uk.com know otherwise. We know that for some families don’t blink at £75 for a weekend, whereas others go without to make sure their young people can attend. When applying for bursaries we approach local meetings in the first instance, who nearly always come through, but we know that LM funds aren’t limitless… any overpayment you make goes directly to increasing access for less financially secure participants, so if you can, please do.
Children with specific needs: we wish to welcome all children to our holidays. It is essential that we know well in advance what children’s needs are so that we can plan ahead and make sure that each child has a safe and happy time. Please bear in mind that our volunteers do not necessarily have specialist training, though they are usually parents or people with experience of working with children at Quaker events. Please put any information on the application form that will help your child. If you child has additional support at school it would be useful if you could tell us what that is so we can plan accordingly. Please feel free to get in touch with Jo our parent liaison via the Junior Holiday email or 07529221651 to talk about things before you book. juniorholidays@quakersinyorkshire.org.uk
Safety/ Medical Information is required to help us to be clear about parental consent and medical needs. Please add any extra information you feel we should need.
IMPORTANT: Contacting you during Junior Holiday – we need to ensure that everyone has a safe and happy time. It is therefore possible that we might need a child to be collected early if they become unwell or if their behavior affects the safety or wellbeing of the rest of the group. By applying for a place at Junior Holiday, parents / guardians must agree to remain contactable and to make any necessary arrangements to collect a child early if requested by Junior Holiday staff.
Safeguarding: We follow the safeguarding policies set out by Quakers in Yorkshire. The safeguarding contact for Junior Holidays is Ash Allen with Emily Pail as a Deputy, and the safeguarding co-ordinator for Quakers in Yorkshire are Ruth McTighe, smctighe@cix.co.uk and Liz Schweiger liz.schweiger@phonecoop.coop.
Data Protection: The information you provide on the form will be held by Quakers in Yorkshire and the Junior Holiday committee will be responsible for it. We will use the information for the purposes of administering the events on which you are booking.
